My male Cockatiel.

My male cockatiel we took the to emergancy er for a vet since he was not eating. I called around 11 PM last night to check on him since I was really worried about him. Dr. Falcon said that he was doing wonderful and he would be able to be picked up tomorrow which would be today. Then we would take him to get checked at the vet. That never happened. I got a call at 1:28 AM in the morning. The worse kinda of news since we considered the cockatiels our kids. He passed away. So now I have called the people that I have received the bird from and see what they can do for me. Kinda sucks. Last thing he said was Pretty boy. I just want my money back now since he was only a week and there was not another bird that caught my eye. Sucks. I still miss my woody wood pecker.

The name woody was cuz he was knocking on the box and peeking out the little holes for air. It was funny. He would play peek a boo in the box. I tried to make him eat. He actually starved him self. So I feel responsible. The thing is that we where feeding him. found out that the food we had was 100% different then what the owner had for food. This food we have has banannas, oranges, seeds. No sunflower seeds at all. Corn etc... Extremely good for the birds. The fruit are dried out. I just know that he was in a cage of 10 to 15 other birds and we gave him a home for the few days he was with us.

I miss you woody. You are and where a great bird.

I needed to reply to this. It is monday. I called the guy that we got the bird from. We took him to the er and I explained to him about that. He was like why didn't you call me? I could have told you what is wrong. I had 22 years in this business. I was thinking you are not a vet dr are you. I told him flat out that if your kid was having a medical emergancy would you shove him back up in the womb to make sure he is feeling better? No you take them to the er. Cuz they are your child. Well narrow this down. He told me that he would replace the bird. You can't replace a bird that had a special meaning to you. That special look. No other bird got my eye.
Well, he wanted me to freeze him all week and show him the body on sat. I can't keep him in the freezer. I am thinking. Why not stuff your kid in the freezer and bring him to the er after to show he is dead to exchange him. Doesn't happen that way. We are having him cremated He loved the sun. We are going to bring him to the beach and put him to rest there since he loved the sun and sunned himself all the time while we had him.

... What a **** Those kind of people are why animal rights are all over us...
I wouldn't take another bird from him, their probably all sick!
But you might want to get a necropsy on him to see what happened... then you could show him the papers saying how he died.
Did you get blood work done by your vet, within 72 hrs of purchase?
Usually breeders will only refund you within the first 2-3 days, so it is very important that you get a FULL check up the day you purchase your bird.
This is usually costly (around $200-$350) but it is well worth it :)

no we could not get blood work done. He was to thin. He starved himself to death because of the food. The guy had sun flower seeds and a few other things that are for birds. We had natural stuff. Dried oranges, bananas and some good seeds. I thought about looking for a male or female sun conure but I just saw the price of them. 300.00 to 493.99....Thing is now we are looking for that is compatible or be friendly with our bird sweetpea. So I am not just picking out the first bird. I am going to take my time and look. We have a bird show coming up in ruskin so we are going to have to wait and see. We also have a friend that offered to give us a year old cockatiel since they have 30 of them. I will keep you up dated. Thanks for the board mods.
