my green cheek died this morning...he escaped from his cage in the middle of the night and climbed on my bed to cuddle and smothered himself. how do i deal with this? i can't believe he's really gone...i'm having a really hard time with this. he was only 5 months and 1 week old..

i'm very sorry for your loss - don't beat yourself up too bad, accidents happen (to all of us, nobody's safe from them). if you consider getting another bird after a grieving period, make sure to figure out how the little one got out of his cage....

fly free, little one

How very, very awful. I remember my husband wanted to have the lovebirds sleep with us when they were babies and I cringed at the thought!!! There are dangers with human babies, let alone birds...but how could you have foreseen this horrible accident!!!
So...so sorry! There are few ways to deal with this successfully other than to allow yourself the time to heal.
Fly free little bird!

My little Cinnamon, Auggie passed the same way. I know I cried for weeks and felt so guilty. He was such a love and always needed to be on me.

It's heart wrenching, I know, but please don't blame yourself and let the tears flow. It's good to let it out. As I wandered around the house, it seemed very empty and the words "it will get easier with time" seemed so very hollow and far away. But it will. For your baby to want to be so close to you, your baby must have loved you dearly.

I am so sorry for the loss of your precious little one.
