Fly Beautiful and Free Runty
Runty, you left us today while I held you to me. I knew the day was coming since the day you were born, but you gave me hope with your cheerful disposition and shining eyes. Your poor little body just couldn't hang on, even if your spirit wanted to. When I looked at you, I saw an angel with beautiful white wings. You came to us to teach us compassion, patience, hope, and joy. For 33 days you taught us so much. I believe the next time we see you, you will be beautifully feathered, and flying with angels. I hope you will be waiting for us on the rainbow bridge. We named you Runty, but we should have named you Love.

I'm sorry for the loss. He was a cute lil thing. I love the way he is sitting in the first pic with his wing over the side. It looks like he's saying "sure, take my pic. i know i'm adorable".

Thanks guys, we didn't know it was going to hit us so hard. Just another reminder of how fragile life can be. I love that first picture too Becca, even with formula all over his face. haha He made us laugh every day. We would say RUNTY!!! And he would pop up his little head and race over to the door as fast as he could. :D

I am so sorry for your loss. I can still remember the first baby that I lost years ago. It is a very hard thing to deal with.

I was finally able to read this thread. He was awsome and even though he was just hatched he got into our hearts just like he was with us for many years. I will miss his goofy butt running across the nursery to get to his grool; the whole way knocking down his brothers and sisters like a full back on a pro football team. In all the years I have been around baby animals I had never seen one with so much spunk and character. I will miss him.
