Baby Caboose....

Today my Bourke's and me are grieving over the loss of her cage pal and my baby, Caboose. My little parakeet died without really any explanation today and we're both sad. I was wondering how I'll be able to tell when my last baby girl will be ready for a new friend.

I am so sorry for your loss. My friend recently lost a budgie, a pair bond to another. She got another one about a week later and the two called to each other immediately even though they were quarantined away from eachother for over a month.

They just met last night for the first time and since they have been calling to eachother for a while I expect it was more familiar than not...needless to say they were sharing a millet treat in no time.

Best of luck.

I would suggest more of waiting until you are ready for a new one and I'm sorry for your loss.

as important as it is for u to wait untill you are ready, i would put the last remaining birds needs first, it is important that a new mate (even of another species) is established quickly or the remaining bird mey begin to pluck or mutilate itself, i am sorry to say but once this behaviour starts, it wont stop even after a new introduction
i am deeply sorry for your loss kind regards luke
