I can't believe this.

Gribbit just had a seizure, I heard her from the other room and ran in and she was on the ground of her cage still twitching. I grabbed her in a towel and put her in a carrier and didn't even have time to make any calls before she seized again, so hard that she broke blood feathers in the carrier. She died in my hands in a minute.

I don't know what I am going to tell my fiance. I emailed her last owner asking if she's ever had a seizure but if I get an honest answer I will be surprised and wonder if she was selling her now for almost nothing because she knew she was sick. She was very vague about her vet history as opposed to Gandalf's.

All of the birds were quarantined in different rooms but I am watching them like hawks.

I don't know what to do at this point. I have to wait for my fiance to come home, I can't tell him on the phone. My grandmother just died this morning too and I had to talk to my bawling mother for a long time.

We only just got her on Saturday night and like I posted elsewhere she wasn't eating or really moving around but I figured that was transition and not having the food she was used to and I had been told she was a perch potato, we were going to take her to the vet next week along with Gandalf even though he had just been 4 months ago and was negative for everything.

Help. This is too much like LB, I can't deal.

I wonder if the prior owner knew she was ill, and didn't want to or couldn't afford to get her help

If she did she should have told us so we could! From everything I have heard of her trying to make a buck nothing would surprise me at this point. I am in absolute shock though. Oh but she could afford to trust me, she lived in a palace. I'm not going to lay blame though maybe it was something else. The symptoms fit late stage fatty liver disease and the bird was overweight and on crap food and older I was told anywhere from 6 to 12 which means no one knew really.

Why on my watch??

I'm so sorry. There was no way you could have known! You had said her poo looked fine, and she could have just been quiet since she was still settling in. I'm sorry

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, both Gribbit and your grandmother. You must be heartbroken right now. :(
