Farewell my furry old gentleman

Today I said goodbye to Bashkah my 15yo cat. He's been with me since the day he took his first breath and has been such a constant in my life through changes and moves.

Bashkah was one of the most laid back cats I have ever known. I wonder if his half Russian heritage had something to do with that. He was a huge cat but a gentleman and a gentle soul with it.

I had to make the call as I could see he was in pain and suffering. It was one of the hardest things I've done. I cuddled my old boy as the vet gave him the final injection and said farewell.

So, goodbye to a beautiful friend and a constant companion. I'll miss you.

This brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful, wonderful cat. He is out of the suffering and going on to pet heaven. I believe you will see him one day again. Pet companions are such an important part of our hearts. It sounds like his life with you was one filled of love. No more could a cat ask for.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

What a bittersweet story. One of my biggest regrets in life is that I wasn't there when we put our last cat down. I was 9 years old and my mom didn't think I'd be able to take it so we left the vet's office and I sobbed the whole way home knowing he was alone for it. How wonderful you were able to share his life from the very beginning to the very end. *Hugs*

Sorry for your loss. I lost my boy Baron (first pic), who was my heart in Sept '07 after 12 1/2 years, it's really really tough. But know that he's waiting for you in heaven.
