Exclamation I lost all my birds, non stick coating! I am in shock and feel horrible...

All My parakeets and finches have died a horrible death due to toxic fumes from non stick coating from a pot that was left on the burner. I just now found out that non stick coating when overly hot will release fumes and become toxic to birds. I had had all my birds for nearly one year now and loved them and took care of them well.

I had just lost timmy one of my other parakeets a month ago!

I lost 5 Birds, just this night all of them twicthing on the ground when i came back in from the computer room

I just wanted to let you all know what happened.

Rest in Peace:

Johnny
Tina
Spice
Bobbie
Jessie

I think almost everyone on this board knows the danger of teflon to their birds. RIP birdies!

I now have thrown anything that has coating away in the dumpster outside. I feel sick and my apartment is empty and silent. That was my entire flock and family.

My God I am sick and I will not be owning any pets anytime soon.

I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way. I couldn't imagine losing all of my birds at once! It happens though, and you learn from it.

I know you feel bad and responsible for what happened. I am sorry it happened to you and to your birds. The teflon is not good for anyone - not for people, either.

I hope you will be okay and will have birds again. Just give it some time, now you know...

Take care.

Yes, kellywess lost 5 birds too. Amazons and Macaws.
This is hard for me to post.... its very long. Need to start dealing with things.

Look up some of her threads and maybe she can help you deal with what you are going through since she has been through the same thing.
