Smile Say hello to Jake!

Well this weekend was very busy - we got a new addition to our family He's a 1.5 month old German Shepherd - and ok I'm biased - but he's gorgeous

We got him on Friday evening and he cried Friday night for his mammy But I stayed up with him all night and gave him some milk and cuddles and I don't want him to get into a habit of sleeping with us - so just for that night I slept on the floor with him The last two nights he was much better and calmly slept most of the night. I also calmly slept most of the night too Though he does like to get up around 05.30 in the morning and play for a few hours

When he decides its time to wake up he runs over to the bed, places his paws up on it and whines and bites my hair to wake me up

The first day we got him he learned "sit" and does it without food now - the very first time I tried "lie down" he lay down... This is one super smart dog He really amazed me!

We've had the first 3 vet injections the day after we brought him home - 4 more to go - 2 on the 1st of august and 2 on the 22nd.. He's too young for them at the moment. But until he can get them we can't walk him on the lead - we need to carry him everywhere! He weighed in at 7 kilos... so it's a hard job in this heat to carry him

His ears haven't popped up yet, but his paws are huge - he will be a huge boy when he grows up! He is of course sleeping alot - he's very young. But when he's awake he has decided to follow me everywhere! And to kill everything he can find - bottles, balls, paper, cables, clothes... it goes on and on Needless to say, I'm watching him CONSTANTLY! I'm writing this as he sleeps it's the only time I can

I have some videos which I will upload to youtube shortly and stick a link into my signature for al to see I'm posting up some of his photos now too

Enjoy!

Thanks!

Would love to see some pics of your GS too if you have some on your pc. We read up alot about them first, before deciding and Jake is already showing his loyalty, and intelligence in a few days! He runs to the door and makes puppy barks already

Also, you may know about this as you have a GS, but the man we bought ours from said until he is around 6 months old we should carry him up and down stairs as its bad for him to walk up or down stairs when he's small - something to do with his hip joints... But he's going to be huge and so heavy by 6 months - and we live up 2 flights of stairs... I guess it's time to find a first floor apartment

he is beautiful. Alot of character in his eyes.

I am a GSD lover, I an owned by 3 hehe.

His ears: they may pop up and stay up or go down when teething, they may flip flop aka one up one down only to find the next day theyve changed. When they are teething the ears do funky things, when he is done teething his ears should stand.

Sounds like you bought him from a smart man. He should not climb the stairs, also-dont let him hop out of a truck, jump fences, or anything along that type of activity it can contribute to hip dysplasia. A good diet is also key in preventing hip dysplasia. They are not sure what causes hip dysplasia-some causes are: poor diet, heriditary and activity causing impact on the hips.

Enjoy him, they are great companions.

Here is a picture of my beautiful Jetan. She died in 1999 when she was just 4 years old. She was the best dog. Your puppy is adorable.

OMG, I just melted at those puppy pictures What an adorable little baby, he looks just like a super cuddly stuffed animal

And how is Bunny reacting to the new addition, is he jealous at all?

Here is my GSD, Buddy. These were actually taken just the other day. I actually got Buddy from our County fair when he was 5 months old. So I missed out on the age your puppy is now in! He is large, weighing in at 118 pounds right now. He was actually up in the 120's in his prime. He has slight arthritis problems, and takes pain meds once a day. But with those he gets around great. The way he's going now we expect him to be around for several more years, rather old for a GS!
