Re: Where to start.....

Sadly tonight Oreo the rabbit passed in my arms. I have no idea what happened to him. He was a young rabbit. My daughter found him lying on the bottom of his cage, barley able to move. There was no time for a vet visit. I removed him, and about two minutes after, he passed away.. He always seemed healthy, so it was kind of a shock. So now Oreo is in rabbit heaven,,

Re: Where to start.....

Jason sorry to hear about Oreo but sometimes rabbits do that for no apparent reason. Give daughter a hug for me. Are you going to have a necropsy done? I would keep an eye on your other rabbit for a couple of days. Could be contagious. :(

Re: Where to start.....

we buried him, so a necropsy would be out of the question now. Housed in the same room is another rabbit Yogi,... And I think she is pregnant from my wife's new rabbit... The new rabbit is housed in another room... I am keeping a close eye on Yogi though. Especially being I think she is a soon to be mommy... Her cage sat about a foot from Oreo's.... Can rabbits get ecoli? I saw on the news tonight that they are saying it could be in lettuce too, and they ate some lettuce yesterday...I will give my daughter a hug for you...before he was even dead, she asked me if she could get another rabbit... Have a good night

Re: Where to start.....

Jason just talk to a friend of mine that breeds rabbits and she said they can get ecoli and that it's very common for them to get upper respiratory infections easily. My grandson had a rabbit just up and died like that and necropsy showed an upper respiratory infection. Let us know if you get babies!!!

Re: Where to start.....

Today Yogi the rabbit started pulling her fur out,.. which means.... BUNNIES ON THE WAY!! I figure she should have them in the next day or so.. She is preparing a nest.. My daughter is excited. I have relocated her to my bedroom which sees very little traffic, so hopefully she will not kill them. Rabbits do that sometimes...

Re: Where to start.....

Where to start? I'm down to only 2 birds now(Greenwing & Double Yellow Head). At 1 time I bred Ball Pythons, Het pied,Albino's and Pastels. I bred and had a web-site where I sold my Old World Chameleons. I bred Ambanjas,Carpets,Vields, and many types of geckos. Loved the Leaf Tails the most. I have had breeder Ferrets and rabbits. Raised ducks and had a couple of pet skunks. Spent my summers as a boy hunting snakes. Whoops and the fish tanks....125 Salt (fish) 29 gal mini reef,55 fresh, 55 brackish and a 2 1/2 with mini seahorses. Well that covers most of it for now. If I think of any more I'll let you know. Oh yea and all of this time have been married to wonderfull wife of 23 years.
PS lots of birds years ago...from finch's to Macaws ::)
