It looks like part of his left ear is missing. Did something happen to it?
Or is it just an illusion.

good call. It looks like he's missing most of his left ear. I wonder if that happened in the shelter or in the new home with the rotti.

He could of been born that way. We have to be careful and not shoot the messenger. I hope the pup finds a good home for his Christmas!

Keep us updated on the home hunting, please!

No we got him that way and its not missing just bent back. I don't know what kind of home he was in before ours. He may have been born that way, the vet said it did not look like an injury. Our Rottie Sasha Thinks he is her puppy. Along with me, My two sisters, my two brothers( one is ten months old ), and my two Shih Tzus( Vinny and Sweetie). She would never hurt any of us including him. He is awfully afriad of everything, Including me when I raise my hand or make any sudden movements.

This is the rottie+ some of our other pets
From left to right/bottom to top: Vinny is on the left Sweetie is on the right, then the rottie her name is sahsa, then Sasha and me, then Smokey, finally indigo is on the left kiwi is on the right.

Cockatiel Girl, I don't know that I fully understand your reasons or need to rehome the puppy. Jill, I'm not sure that there is any point to trying to convince someone to keep a dog that they have already decided to rehome. I think at this point the best advice that can be given her is in the nature of how best to go about the rehoming process so that this poor animal is not passed around a bunch of homes or worse yet, dumped at a shelter or pound.

Cockatiel Girl, you appear to be quite young and you mention being in school. Anyway that you can post a flyer at school about the need to find the puppy a new home?

The problem that I have with asking only for a $5 adoption fee is that this then may render the new owners to view the puppy as expendable because they have not invested much in him. Do you see? You mention you had the puppy to the vet so you must have spent some money on him already. This alone would justify charging a higher adoption fee. Is he current on his shots? Has he been neutered? If so, this will make it much easier to find him a good home.

Spread the word among your friends that you need to find him a good home. But like Jill (Felisdomesticus) has said, if there are behavior issues with your puppy, you will need to tell any prospective owner of them or the dog will likely be returned to you or banished to a shelter or pound.

How long have you had this puppy, if I might ask?

Btw, those are lovely photos of your other pets and of you.

I dont go to a real school I am home schooled. He is fixed, and has his shots. I have had him for two years. He still acts like a puppy and we got him when he was one. No behavior issues, just needs alot of room to run, room we don't have. Our rottie is old and has hip and elbow displeasia, so she doesn't need as much room to run.

Thanks

I still can't figure exactly why the dog needs to be rehomed other than "he's too much" and "he needs room." If her mother is set on getting rid of the dog, then he will be gone and soon I'm sure. But if I can make suggestions that help her to manage the dog and maybe even convince the mother to change her mind, then you'd better believe that I'm going to do that.

It's easier to keep a dog in its home than to try to find a new one for it, especially at this time of year.

Maybe it's me, or perhaps due to the formality of the written word, but it just seemed that your comments were somewhat harsh and judgmental, especially given the tender age of the writer. I am aware of your involvement with rescues involving dogs and cats and know this is an issue close to your heart. I certainly respect the passion you bring to this subject, Jill. But I was not wanting the young lady turned off by attempts to get her (or her mother) to keep the dog when it was clear to me that the decision had already been made by them to rehome him. What good would that do? That's why I suggested we try to give her advice that would help with the rehoming process as that was what she said she was seeking. That's all.

she stated in one of her posts that she wanted to keep him... and I didn't know exactly why the dog had to go. (still don't, honestly) If it was a training/behavior issue that was causing the rehome, I was simply trying to provide suggestions to help.

I realize that I do not come across as all flowers and sunshine when discussing the rehoming of an animal. When you receive 100 emails from people looking to dump their pets on you for every ONE interested in adopting a pet, you lose that sweet, sunny attitude. I wasn't trying to be rude. I was just getting to the point. I don't try to make people feel better about getting rid of their animals. I'm past that.
