But I was not wanting the young lady turned off by attempts to get her (or her mother) to keep the dog when it was clear to me that the decision had already been made by them to rehome him. What good would that do? That's why I suggested we try to give her advice that would help with the rehoming process as that was what she said she was seeking. That's all.
you're saying exactly what i'm thinking... i agree that things don't always go the way we/you/i would do them, but it is not our place to make decisions for other people or go on a mission to change people's mind. i personally appreciate suggestions in order to keep the dog, but if the decision is made, all i see is conversion with a wall.... instead of being helpful.
(i believe i stated that before, but sometimes comments stating the other side of opinions conviniently get ignored)

If you think that I wasn't "being helpful", you are welcome to step up with all of your suggestions and advice for the girl. Go for it.

I realize that I do not come across as all flowers and sunshine when discussing the rehoming of an animal. When you receive 100 emails from people looking to dump their pets on you for every ONE interested in adopting a pet, you lose that sweet, sunny attitude. I wasn't trying to be rude. I was just getting to the point. I don't try to make people feel better about getting rid of their animals. I'm past that.
I respect that. Understood. Don't know how you do what all you do.....

nobody has to come across all flowers and sunshine when it comes to the discussion of rehoming a pet, and i sure understand your frustration dealing with it... i cannot understand how easily some people can just get rid of their animals, coming from a family where pets are as much part of the family as kids are.
i'm just not sure if an online board is the right place for your mission?!

i'm sorry if i said something that did not please you. i apologize - i'm not full of suggestions. i don't have your experience with rehoming cats and dogs, and i'm sure you know much more about what to look out for when you consider people for taking your animal... i was just hoping you could mention a few of those things besides adivce for keeping the pet.
again, i apologize....

Our dog is going to be put in a good home, they will be looked at by my family and I. One of my friends is thinking about taking him. Meaning I will still get to see him. By the way I dont want to get rid of him, but when my mom makes a Choice all I can do Is hope for the best. My mom really did try to put up with him and I am happy about that, it's just... well its just... it's just we have more dogs that need less room than he does. Eveything we are doing is for his best interest. We are Screening house and have rejected two people with apartments because he needs room to run. THe person I hope takes him has 3 acres and Is going to house train him+has another beagle so she understands what kind of care he needs.

I'm guessing that he's an outside dog? Beagles or beagle mixes are very high-energy and quickly get bored when they have to live outside and entertain themselves.

It sounds like you are on the right track with finding him an indoor home. Stimulation and companionship keeps beagles out of trouble.

Yes, but besides for when I am on the computer or in school, I play with him Infact I just got inside. My four year old sister is always outside, and she does not want to give him up.

Ease up girls... you guys are taking this alittle too passionately which isn't bad but this person wants to rehome the dog, so if someone is interested in taking on the dog let them step up.
