Why, exactly, does he need a good home? How much room, exactly, does a 30 pound dog need to run in? Do you take him for regular walks? Did you not know that beagles bark and bay all the time when you purchased him?

and a $5.00 adoption fee is absurd. How are you going to ensure that he goes to a good home with a fee like that? I'd start at $50 MINIMUM.

He needs a lot of room to run. Yes we do take him for lots of walks. He is a mix and is Almost silent. $5 is all we want to put on him NO ONE will buy a mixed breed dog for $50. It is either find him a home ourselves or send him right back to the pound were we got him. I feel really bad getting rid of him.

So sad. Why do you have to give him away?

If you must rehome him I applaud your effort to do it yourself rather than burdon the system.

Good job, make sure you screen those potential adopters.

Jill could probably give some good advice on screening people.

I have to give him away because he is too much for my mom. We do not have enough room for him to run. I just want what is best for him.

put an ad on Recycler.com too, I've found great homes for some animals on there.

Not true at all. Many people will pay an adoption fee of $50 or $100 for adult, mixed-breed dogs if they are up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea preventative, and spayed/neutered. For $5, I could buy your dog and sell him to a research facility for $25 and still make $20 on the deal.

If you feel bad about getting rid of him maybe you might try to find a way to keep him. You can play "fetch", take him to a dog park, teach him agility, or find other ways to help him burn off energy--like hiding treats around the house and letting him find them. There are very few breeds who absolutely need a lot of space to exercise in. You could find a way to make it work if you really wanted to. Poor dog.
