Thanks.
The forum which has always been a huge help to me is www.fishforums.com

Another GREAT website is http://fins.actwin.com/mirror/begin-cycling.html and its links.

The thing to start with is learning how to properly set up and cycle the tank. And learn about all of the equipment that you will need (filters, heater, etc.). The above link is all about the nitrogen cycle and cycling in general.

I HAD a 20 gallon tank, when I lived in So Calif. It had Angels fish, tetras, all kinds....then the earthquake of '94 hit, and I had a 20 gallon mess.

I'd like to get another one for my bedroom...but not at the moment.

We have a 100 gallon freshwater community tank. It houses 2 huge ryukin goldfish, an even more massive pangasius shark, several large Angelfish that my breeding pair (now deceased) raised, some various knife fishes, one betta, and an array of rare catfish. Oh, of course, my Caecaelian worm (a rubbery grey amphibian that looks like an eel--not a fish)! Can't forget him! He's my fav :-).

We just upgraded our 40 gallon cichlid tank to a 90 gallon tank this weekend We currently have 3 Jack Dempseys and 1 Convict in there and yesterday I bought 2 baby Convicts (1 male and 1 female) that are in my 10 gallon quarantine tank until they get bigger - they are bite-size right now!! We haven't bought fish in about 2 years and I forgot what it's like to have such tiiiiny little babies

Those cichilds are quite the characters huh? My family has one and he has quite the personality...he "begs" but unfortunatly we can't keep any other fish in there...he'll kill them. I found that out the hard way when I put a catfish in there to "clean" the tank. Poor guy didn't even last a day...I felt terrible. What's ironic is that my mom and I saved him from being murdered by his brother, he was very near death but now thrives (the brother, now deceased, my mom used brand new sponges to clean the tank and she thinks that's what killed him)

Gorgeous cichlid, Megan!

Here are some of my cichlids:

Jack Dempsey, his name is Mean Guy because he's super mean, he constantly tries to take over the whole tank:

Another Jack Dempsey, his name is The Boyfriend (he wouldn't come all the way out for a closeup). He's paired up with a female Jack but she wouldn't come out of her cave for any pics last night:

And here is my beloved Convict (that's his name too ). This is the day after the big move into the 90 gallon tank and that entire day was an all out war and Convict took a beating. So he still looks a bit rough in this pic, but he's recovering nicely and getting back to his old mean self:
