I adopted your dog today....

I adopted your dog today. The one you left at the pound. The one you had for five years and no longer wanted.

I adopted your dog today. Do you know he's lost weight? Do you know he's scared and depressed and has lost his faith?

I adopted your dog today. He has fleas and a cold. But don't worry none, you've unburdened your load.

I adopted your dog today. Were you having a baby or moving away? Did you suddenly develop allergies or was there no reason he couldn't stay.

I adopted your dog today. He doesn't play or eat much. He's very depressed. But he will learn again to trust.

I adopted your dog today. And here he will stay. He's found his forever home. And a lap to lay.

I adopted your dog today. And I will give him all that he could need: patience, love, security and understanding. And hopefully he will forget your selfish deed.

************************************

Guess it could go for any animal taken in by people who's intentions were good (I hope), and just gave up.

As a Realtor, I get really ****ed off at people who decide to move somewhere they can't take their dog or cat! Why would you even look at such a place???? The fact is I usually just make some excuse and then drop them as buyers. I really don't want to do business with people like that. The exception is someone who is moving to an ACLF or Nursing home and can no longer care for the animal. However, you or your family/friends should find a home for it before you reach that point.

Makes me wonder what they'd do if they had a child and had to move and didn't have enough rooms...would they just leave the child? The mind boggles.

I have been doing rescue for 10 years and it still amazes me how a human can be so cruel to an animal. I have 3 rescue dogs and I would never give up my pets. I would sleep in a card board box if I had to and they wouldn't care one bit as long as we were together. As the saying goes " the more I people I meet the more I love my dog"

I kinda find it funny that people could move without their pets but there are people here that won't even go on vacation because they don't want to leave there pets. Me included.

moved half way across the country

I moved from Missouri to Washington state with my blue heeler in a u-haul. It took us 5 days of driving. Not once did my heeler complain about the long hours sitting/lying in the truck, the lumpy mattresses some of the hotels had or the monotony of the food. She was just happy to be with her human and a great navigator besides. Where there is a will there is a way. WE weree going to stay with my Mom until I could get settled and I made it clear that I would not move under any circumstances unless Pup was also welcome.

nope...they dont give up their human kids no matter what horrible things they may do....

yep, we are trying to move right now, the first thing i always ask is will they accept ALL our animals. if not, i tell them im not interested and hang up. somewhere out there is a place who WILL accept your pets, you just gotta find them.

another reason i see alot of dogs and cats given up is cause they have a new SO and they arent a "dog or cat" person, UGH.....do you think the new SO will give them unconditional love??? i dont think so....but your pet that you just gave up would have loved you no matter what....so sad :(

Yeah I plan on staying home until I can afford a deposit on a house, that way no one can say no animals. My boyfriend wasnt a bird person but he is coming around...Matches absolutely loves him and Beetle runs over for scratches. If Matches is on me and she see's him then she's off, I have a picture at home of her falling asleep on his shoulder than angry at me cos I tried to get her to step up to go to bed lol. Plus if it ends up that for some reason i chose to have a kid (one at the very most..none at the moment) there is no way i am giving up my animals for a kid and if i cant have a kid cos of my animals then i wont...I know for sure my animals wont bring drugs or their drunk friends into my home so the decision is easy for me.
I watch RSPCA rescue on tv and so many dogs are just left abandoned at a house that everyone moved but didnt take the dog, its so sad!
