Annoyed at dog breeders! >.<

For the past while I've been trying to find a breeder that sells male, black german shepherds. I want it to be CKC or AKC registered, and hip guaranteed. I've contacted several breeders but it's like they are all internet challenged or just don't care at all

I'll ask questions that will go ignored, I won't get e-mails for days, or not at all, or never again when I try to set a date to see the pup. I ask for pictures and they are reluctant to send them; what's up with all these breeders? I ask a million questions, and not only do they not answer most of them, they don't ask ME a SINGLE question!

I mean, if you are going to post an ad on the internet, can't you be at least a little bit attentive and show a tiny bit of interest towards your internet buyers!?!? Why are you even bothering posting ads if you are just going to blow off everyone who is interested!

*rant rant rant*

Has anyone else had this problem, or is this string of bad luck just me?

I am a stickler when it comes to picking dog breeders. There are tons of greedy, disreputable breeders out there. If a breeder is hesitant about sending photos and not asking you a single question, I'd bet that they are not reputable breeders. Good ones should pepper you with questions to make sure that you are a good fit for their dogs. Another good sign for good breeders is that they will take the dog back at any time for any reason (good breeders don't want to see their dogs end up in shelters or irresponsible owners).

good luck.

Yeah that's what I thought too! I mean, that's how it is with my birds. I'm pretty strict about who they go to, and I'd definitely take them back, and these people just really don't care. It's so disheartening. I can't find any good breeders, I'm already looking in other provinces and they are all the same :(.

I would keep searching till you find a breeder that you get along with...they are out there...just hard to find. Keep looking and don't settle for less than what you expect out of them. There are many great breeders but they are in great demand and don't necessarily have to advertise on the internet....go to a few local dog shows and start there. Ask around and you will get what you are looking for.....good luck!!

I have a very strong dislike for most of the dog breeders I have communicated with. They all preach about bad ethics from the other breeeders... But, they make sure they get every financial benefit from a potential buyer. I couldn't believe it when some of them insisted on a contract that let them retain co-ownership of the dog after we pay them 2k for the animal!

There were to many negatives to "the good guy" breeders that we spoke with. We ended up getting dog through a local rescue group (all of our dogs are rescues, hence we were interested in possibly getting a purebred) and have been very happy with our decision.

there are plenty of purebred dogs in shelters, you just gotta keep calling around everywhere, often, cause new dogs are always being dumped there. ive seen beautiful gsd's, rotties, labs, pomeranians, pickenese (SP?), huskies, everything, its just a matter of time before you find a shelter purebred dog that you want. some of the purebreds also have akc papers and everything, all you gotta do is keep calling and asking what they have.

if you are considering getting a dog from another state even, you can find rescue groups, i have several friends on myspace that help pull the dogs from the shelters and they even help transport the dogs across the country so they can go to their new homes!!

Awesome breeder of GSDs here German Shepherd breeder,German Shepherd puppies

I've seen three dogs from this kennel and I liked all three. For me to say that about three GSDs in a row from the same kennel is a minor miracle. I am picky about what I like in a dog (I am a SAR handler with my Australian Shepherd) and it's not often that a GSD offers "the total package" in my opinion.

I have also heard really good things about the breeder, the guarantee that they offer etc. Hope this helps.

May I recommend heading over to GermanShepherds.com and checking out the forums there? There are LOTS of really knowlegeble folks who can point you a reputable breeder of whichever GSD type (working, American, East/West German, show, Czech- whichever!) lines you prefer.

I like the lines on the link posted (Narnia) but I also really like Eurosport (in Texas), Molly Graf (Eichenloff, if I've spelled that correctly), Samuri (in Texas), and Alta Tolhaus. I'm rather fond of the working dogs though, and color's rarely a consideration for most of these breeders- they breed the best dogs to the best and keep the best pup regardless of color- but it still seems like most of them have blacks fairly regularly. I've also heard really good things about TeMar.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll try that! I know it seems pretty shallow but I just love black german shepherds. Ever since I was little I've always been set on a black german shepherd. Only recently have I considered a white one, because, well-

hehehehheehehheehehe cuteness... overload....
