Im amazed everytime.

I am amazed at how much learning as much as you can about the language of any animal species can impact their behavior. Parrot, Horse, dog whatever. I am awstruck every time I see something work.
Tonight I had to prepare to have a horse brought back (again). Yesterday this horse kicked injured and essentially killed another horse. (The horse was humanely euthanized). his owners were afraid of him. they tried to walk him down to our place but he gave them a fit rearing and eventually breaking away, pushing them over. I was afraid myself that this was the end for him but I went down, practiced not ten minutes of the same Language work essentially driving him away from me and what he wanted. I walked him home quietly. No loud words, no whips, no pain. We just walked. Loose lead rope.

Sometimes I think it takes an animal being able to have a human understand them and understand where the animal is coming from. You sound like that is exactly what you did!
