Frozen puppy ordeal, great outcome

We have been expecting our giant Newfoundland dog to have her puppies any day now. She usually lives outside and for the last week we have had her in the house. She was not impressed being inside and would get pretty hot and whine to go out. Last night at supper time I let her outside, she was out for about 30 minutes. When we went to check on her she had had 4 puppies in our insulated dog house. The temp was -6 c, 2 of the puppies were fine but the other 2 she had either had outside the dog house or pushed them outside. The 2 outside were frozen. We rushed them all into the house and started trying to warm the frozen ones. I really thought one was dead. We spent 2 hours with heated rice filled bags and a blow dryer on low. (as reccomended by our vet) and they both seemed to come around. The greatest momment was when the one I thought was dead started sucking on my finger. This morning everyone seems to be healthy and active. She ended up having 7 puppies. I'm so thankful that we didn't give up on the one we thought was dead. Also thankful that we found them when we did. I would have not forgiven myself if we would have lost them.

How horrible. Thank goodness they are OK. That is so cold for pets to be out for very long.

Hi, we're in Alberta Canada. Everyone is still doing great. Last night and today the temps are -26c so I'm glad she had them when she did. Sue

My friend would like to know if you will be selling the pups, please? She & her family have had Newfie's before (and do have an older guy, at present) and she is VERY interested.

Thanks!

Post on a Dog site

Just thinking this site is for birds. I have dogs too and sites that I use for them. I thought this site was for bird info and that other sites would be used for the info that you are needing and posting.
