Unhappy Large Dog Wheelchair??? PLEASE READ

my 10 year old rottweiler was just diagnosed with intervertebral disc disease, (she ruptured her disk and has spinal cord damage from it) she can barely walk and is falling all the time and in pain. But all in all besides the walking part her spirits are up, and happy. I had to take her to the vet AGAIN on monday (took her in on Sat as well) and they gave her a shot of cortizone along iwth cortizone pills. That night she was even worse, couldn't walk or hold her back end up hardly at all. We let her sleep gining the shot time to work and see how she was on Tuesday (per the vet), Tuesday when I got home from work she was better! She was trying to trot around in the back yard. Now our battle is trying to get her to lay down and not run. Since she feels better she will try to do more which will cause more damage. We have her cooped up in the garage most of the time so she isn't all over. I can't believe it, because we honestly were thinking we would have to put her down.
She still wobbly and very weak but OMG what a change! So that is why I haven't been on here lately. I have been spending all my time with her...and yes the birds have been jealious!
Since Tuesday she has gotten a little worse. The vet want to wait a little more to see if the oral Steroids will help.
If anyone has even dealt with this please by all means tell me your story and give tips & suggestions!
I am also looking for a large dog wheelchair for her!
have directions on how to make my own, but I also hear there is a lot of trial and error on making them.

I was wondering if anyone on here has a wheelchair to support a dogs back end that they may not need or I could borrow. If you do please PM me. We need one pretty quickly so when she isn't crated she has some support so she doesn't fall and twist her back end any!
She is 77 lbs rottweiler

thanks for reading this!

I'm so sorry to hear about your pup. I'm going through the similar thing right now, except Cash has vestibular disease (neurological disorer) and I'm not sure he's going to make it this time.

However, there is a website called Handicapped Pets - Elderly, Disabled, Injured, and Special Needs Pets and they sell doggy wheelchairs for dogs up to 250 lbs. I found Cash's booties to help him walk better on the laminate and tile floors.

Good luck and I hope your rottie makes it.

So sorry to hear about your baby :(
I don't have a wheelchair, but until you get one, if you haven't tried this, it may help some......
You could use a towel wrapped under her belly to hold and help take some of her weight off when she is up. we had to do that for a dobbie I had when I was a kid. It's hard on you and your back may get sore but it might help her walk easier for now....
Good luck!

Arrow jusdt order One wheelchair for my dog - may be that can help you.

Dear reader,

I just order a whelchair for my old dog.

They sell wheelchair at Dog carts/pet wheelchairs for paralyzed/disabled/handicapped dogs, cats

and this compagny have an ebay webstore too.

This model seem to be ok for your dog weight:

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=170331354110

Please read carefully the product detail and ask Kaavie the seller if any question.

The price is nearly half the price that you can find here in France and the quality seem to be good too.
4 day for making the wheelchair and between 3 and 7 day from China to US.

The seller is really helpfull and pro, i have emailed him several time for questions and everything seem to be ok.

100% positive feedback on ebay.

I hope this help your dog.

best regards,
Sam
