My Doggies

Our doggies are like our children. Actually, we probably take better care of them than we would children :)

Tux - the black dachshund

Lexi - english bull terrier

Kodi - light brown mix breed

Cache - white toy pom

Thumbs up

What a cute bunch!!

Loved Lexi's baby photos... especially the one of her wearing the backpack! Waaaay toooo cute.

What are Bull Terrier's temperaments like? I wonder how tollerant they would be of noisy, fast moving, children... any ideas? I'm not looking to increase my "flock" or "pack" anytime soon, I just think it's a really handsome breed of dog & am curious. (thanks in advance)

I too would love to see more pics of your baby Lexi. I don't see too many Bull Terriers around.

I had a bull terrier cross that (in his prime) would knock through fences and chase cars and once brought home someone's license plate :)

Bull Terriers have a very bad reputation. I don't know if it is just here in South Africa though. Everyone thinks they are the meanest dogs around, always ready to fight. That is probably true if they're brought up in the wrong home. The other reason is that they get bred with other dogs, that really just make them more aggressive. Almost like they have a temper problem.

I've grown up with them, so people think it's strange that I'm not scared of them, or that we treat our one with so much love.

We've discipled her like we would a child. If she is naughty, we put her outside for an hour or so, and then only let her come back in. The most important is the consistency while she was growing up.

They very strong dogs, with a high pain tolerance. She will for instance try to squeeze through a small space even though it's hurting her.

A way that she tries and dominates you is by hitting you under the chin with her nose or head.

She is also extremely stubborn when we go walking, especially on a leash. But the more we've gone to walk, the better she's become.

She's extremely lovable, and always wants to play. This is a problem with smaller kids around. Because she thinks she is a small puppy, she sometimes jumps up against people, and because of the strength and weight AND because people are already a bit scared of her, they tend to get very frightened. When I was younger, our Bully grew up with us, and he never hurt us and tried anything funny.

I am no expert, I just really love these dogs :)
