My other babies, the chinchillas!

I thought I would post some pictures of some of the babies I have had born here recently! I have been breeding chinchillas for 9 years now. They are my other fids.

An adorable white ebony baby girl


Another gorgeous white ebony, this one is a male...his colors are great, probably the favorite kit I have had born yet!


A very cute trio of ebony babies, they were triplets which is scary because they are usually very small, but these ones were great sizes.

They actually are very friendly! Not like a bunny where they will sit on your lap for hours, but they are very friendly, do not bite (of course it is possible!), and they are so much fun. And lots of them will sit with your for 5-15 minute periods, especially after a good long playtime. I do socialize them well as kits and that helps a lot too. I always get compliments and calls about how sweet my chins are so that is great. I have about 120 of them at any given time!

They are nothing like the Chinchilli Day, weekend in Vegas commercials! Lol. Little machine gun carrying chinchillas, I love those commercials. They love to jump and run around the bathroom or a playpen, and can "wall surf" which means they run up the wall about 2-3 feet and jump off it. It is great fun to watch.

I can't get over how sweet they look. i dont know which ones I like best, they're all cuties! I'd love a chin!

I think bird owners are actually one of the only pet owners that would really understand that chinchillas need very specialized care and they live longer than most pets- chinchillas have lived up to 29 years! 15 is more the average expected age though. I have such a rigorous application process and make people wait at least a month after contacting me to purchase one, and I always push them towards rescues first. I never adopt to kids unless I am am sure as I can be that the parents will be there and take the animal when the child goes to college, etc. I usually don't adopt to kids though, they are just so fragile and are not good for jumpy kids, similar to birds.

I have more rescue chinchillas than I have breeders and babies, so I am very active with rescue. I know breeders who do rescue work get bad raps, and I hate that because I work really hard to be able to rescue. I would NEVER breed a rescue that is just awful, and never adopt them out for much money at all, and am very very careful who I adopt to, hence the high number of rescues here. I have 64 rescues now, 32 came from one hoarder last year, it was awful. Sadly even they are becoming more and more seen in shelters and on CL now.

They are so adorable. I could just kiss their little smushy faces! I love the photo arrangements you take. You do a really good job of making a cute atmosphere for boys and girls alike. Great job.

They are beautiful, Lichi is my favourite, there is just something about him! I wish chins were more widely available here. I have never even seen one!

Lichi is now around 5 months old and such a sweet boy! He does just sit in my lap for hours if I let him and is so friendly and not at all jumpy, he is just adorable. I of course have to keep him, lol, as I do lots of my babies.
