I suprised my daughter with 2 - 6 week old Dumbo rats. They are both male and the cutest little things.

She had a Dumbo rat before, but he passed away several months ago from a brain tumor.

One of my foster homes had a litter of Dumbo rats and let me pick out 2 for free.

She named them Dora and Boots. She read them a story tonight before going to bed and snuck them a piece of a peanut butter cookie.

Pictures are not the best, but are they not the CUTEST!

Daughter has an ear infection, so not her best picture.

Thanks, I totally agree. Rats are much calmer than hamsters, gerbils ,etc. If you can get past the whole "rat" part they are awesome. Narna, Mariska's last rat, was super sweet. She took Narna everywhere with her.

I found the cage at a garage sale for 15$! The same size cage was 95$ at PetSmart, so I was very excited to find it. Mariska is always sneaking them food when she does not think I am looking.

These two have an appointment to be neutered in 2 weeks.

Your daughter is precious! And so are the rats! How big do Dumbo rats get compared to a normal domestic rat?
I bet Mel is going to love this!

They can get to be the same size as regular fancy rats. The dad was huge!

Thanks, I love the ears too!
