Question GCC Pulls my hair out

I got a GCC about 4 weeks ago. He is about 6 months old. The last few days he has started pulling my hair out. Strand by strand. He sits on my shoulder and pulls my hair out, or he climbs on my arm and pulls my hair from my arm. This is very annoying! And sometimes hurts! What do I do? I don't know why he started doing this.

It sounds like he's preening you. It means he loves you!! (or that your feathers are out of place)

i agree completely.... not everything that's affectionate to them is necessarily something nice for us

I agree with this too! He loves you! Not sure what you can do to stop it. Maybe try distracting him with a toy or try preening him for a minute. I have a Cockatiel that thinks all freckles need to be removed. lol

The first time Stewie sat on my shoulder he took it upon himself to try to remove all moles and pimples. I'm not sure how I got him to stop doing that, though.

When Stewie preens the hair on my head or arm he's very gentle and it doesn't hurt, but this week he's also taken to trying to preen my eyelashes! I don't care how gentle he is, eyelashes are not meant to be preened!

(As you can see, we've been making a ton of progress since I first joined the board two months ago.)

My GCC doesnt really do that much anymore but my Maroon Bellied now and then will find a whisker on my cheek or an arm hair that annoys him and needs to be removed (ouch!). Longer hair like my head he usually ignores except when it is wet and then he just preens but doesn't pull.
