If you could post a picture I'd like to see if they are ringneck doves or ring neck parrots[parakeets].If not, describe them. How big is the cage?Either way, if they are new go slowly.Just sit nearby and read.Try to resist the temtation to stare at them or you will seem like a predator.Talk or sing to them softly.

What's confusing about your post is that you have the words "dove" and parrot" in the description. So we need more information to make sure we're giving you the advice you need.
Assuming they're ringneck doves (similar to pigeons): I've had ringneck doves for over 20 years. Two males in the same cage will fight. Here's how to sex them: Only the males will BOW at the same time they're cooing. If both of them are doing that, you know you have two males. Yes, separate them. You can have the cages side by side. Perhaps reintroduce them at a later date. It almost sounds as though these two were thrown together at the last minute before you bought them. There will be some territorial fighting, no matter what the sexes of the birds. How large is your cage? Tell us about the perches and other stuff you have in the cage. What are you feeding them? Sorry about the confusion. They are ringneck parakeets. I uploaded a pic. of them. I hope i got it right. Now I know for sure they were fighting over the perch. I threw a nother one in. The cage I have is very small. I am working on a bigger 1 in the mean time.
