blinky hates hands
I've had Blinky for a couple of months now, and I'm pretty sure she likes me quite a bit. She ruffles her feathers and wags her tail whenever I'm around, and greets me with stretches. She climbs up my leg if she flies to the floor and will then sit on my shoulder or head. But she bites at my hands. She won't take food from my hands so it's impossible to get her to trust them via giving treats. She freaks out if my hands go anywhere near her cage, and kind of gets agitated if I go near her cage at all. Even when she is far away from her cage, she does whatever she can to escape my hands, even if she is on my shoulder.
Should I continue to touch her/take her out of her cage with my hands until she gets used to it? Or will this just increase her fear? How do I go about showing her that my hands are OK?
She used to not be scared of hands at all, until I started removing her from her cage, and she's never really been OK with them since. Even now if she leaves her cage and gets somewhere where I have to grab her with my hands, she will be grumpy and mega skittish for days afterwards.
