Parrotlet wont eat fruits and veggies

I am a new parrotlet owner, and I got my bird 2 days ago and is currently 1 month old

according to the breeder I got him from, he eats fruits and veggies no problem. but now that I have him he wouldnt touch his fruits and veggies and surprisingly wont touch spray millet but eats his seeds and pellets well. currently I have some honeydew and parsley in his bowl.

how do I get my bird to eat his fruits and vegies ?

You might want to look into what fresh foods he was being given and how they were offered from the breeder. Being in a new home he may have regressed and needs a bit of time to settle in. Just keep offering him various foods and sooner or later he'll probably start eating them again!

My parrotlet regressed when i brought him home... but he eats everything now he perferes veggies to pellets i made some sweet pototos oh man he loves it! just try offering different things there are something they wont eat. try sprinkling alittle cinnamon or even alittle seeds over the fruit to try and get him to try it..also if he eats out of one bowl for seeds and pellets but the fruit bowl is different try putting the fruit in the seed bowl( sounds funny but on some birds it works) hope some of this helps!

i would try putting some broccali and apple in his food bowl, you should cut it up real fine to start with. once he gets the taste for this then try adding different types of veg. but first of all do what monica said and speak to the breeder to find out what he was being feed there.
every morning i make jake a mix of broccali, apple, small seed mix and egg food. he has this as an extra to his main food which is, parrot premium mix, cockatiel mix and a sprout mix. all the seed mixs i give my birds are human grade meaning the best quality. added to this apple and broccali and other vegs are also clipped into the cage every morning.
i also add a water sanitiser and mineral/vit solution to their water.
ive got to say that jake will try anything i give him, he likes chips/frenchfry, chicken, toast, peanut butter.
youve not had your bird long just give him time to get used to his surroundings. i also think he will be older than i month as they dont normaly wean till eight weeks.
hope this helps
kevin

My parrotlet is 2 years old and also has never been very fond of fruits or veggies. About a month ago I got him beak apetit, they sell it at most pet stores. It's a little cardboard cup of dried veggies and other tidbits, and you add water and microwave it. My bird absolutely LOVES the stuff! He'll eat and eat until he has it mashed all over his beak and stuck all over his body, haha. Well, watching him eat it made me realize his favorite veggies. He picked out all the peas and corn, so I made him peas and corn one day, which he gobbled right up. I think getting them to eat their veggies is a matter of just finding their favorites!
Another way I got mine to eat is by eating it myself. If I am eating broccoli and he is on my shoulder, he is all about it and wants it. Yours is probably too young and not used to you, but you can try that later on. I find mine wants anything he sees me eat - he'll even jump onto a bowl I'm eating out of and snatch out a bite if I'm not looking!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, he finally ate his melon though I know I should give various fruits and veggies

but I would also like to ask some other questions

1. zuchini (my plet name and also a veggie name) had his first bath today, and I cant really tell if he likes it or hates it. before the bath his poop looks normal (always poops on my fingers) and after the bath he passed 2 very wattery poop, still waiting for the 3rd or 4th to see if this because of the bath, is this normal ? or something i did wrong

2. I totally forgot looking at the ingredients when i fed him uncooked soba (japanese buckwheat noodle) though he didnt eat much, maybe 2 or 3 bites. it contains salt, how much salt i dont know. does this account for the watery poop ?

3. I read that plets or any parrot for that matter shouldn't be fed on a mainly seed diet, although I do give variety of fruits. how do I get my plet to switch to pellet diet without starving him ? he is quite a picky eater
and what brand do you suggest ?

4. according to the breeder, my plet already started drinking water a week before I got him, I never seen him drink water so far. how do you tell hes been drinking ?

these are my questions for the time being, I really appreciate the sugestions you people gave me, going to try the beak apetit. sorry for the long post, please be patient with me, a new plet owner

hi he proberly had watery poops due to the fact he was a little scared. i wouldnt feed any thing with salt in it if possible he will get enough natural salt from the foods you feed him. i dont feed jake any pellets i just think it would be a very boring feed for the bird. his parrot premium seed mix contains lots of different seeds, popcorn, rasins, chillies, squahed peas and lots of other things. jake also dos not drink much water but eats a lot of moist vegs so thats where he gets his water from.
i think its best to start with just a few vegs, very finely choped. and work from there. yours is still young but once he gets the taste for different things he will want every thing your eating.

Have you tried Beak Appetit? Bean Cuisine? Oatmeal? Avi Cakes, Nutriberries> My Chipper loves them ALL! Here she is eating oatmeal.

Baby Girl loves my oatmeal and raisins- she gets so excited and impatient that when I'm putting it into the dish, she tries to crawl down my arm and get to it. She also ( and my tiel ) love popcorn. She is not big on fruits- but loves her veggies- but if she sees me eat it first, she'll always at least try it. That's how I introduce new foods to her. She won't try it until she sees me eat it first.

I found a nutri-nugget recipe online (like nutri-berries) and made it for my birds and they loved them. I made a big bunch and froze a lot too. They were a huge hit in this house. I even substituted a few ingredients and they came out great.

1 cup dried fruit (unsulphured)
1/2 cup organic currants or raisins
2 Tablespoons unsweetened coconut shreds
1/2 cup uncooked oatmeal
1/4 cup small seeds and/or crushed nuts
1/4 cup raw organic wheat germ flakes
2 Tablespoons organic almond butter
1 Tablespoon agave nectar or blackstrap molasses
Blend all dry ingredients in a food processor until chopped finely. Place mixture into a bowl and add almond butter and molasses. Mix well; the mix will be sticky. Roll mixture into small 1/2" balls and place on a cookie sheet. Save the fine coconut shreds until last and roll the balls in it, or shake them in a bag of coconut shreds, wheat germ, or almond meal (ground almonds). Bake at 325 degrees for about 20 minutes. Cool and serve. For multiple birds, use four times all the ingredient amounts for about a hundred Nutrinuggets.
