Unhappy I just got a baby lovebird and he wants nothing to do with me.

I just got a baby lovebird that is about 8-10 weeks old and he wants nothing to do with me at all. When I stick my hand in his cage to get him out he runs around the cage trying to get away. But when I do catch him he will not stand on my finger or even tolerate me holding him, if i move my hand away he will just run or fly away from me. I don't know if he is just transitioning from the petstore to my home, or if he was just not handled at all as a baby.I thought he would calm down after a day or so at my home but he still wants nothing to do with me. I have no idea what I should do since the last lovebird I had instantly liked me and would sit on my finger and enjoyed my company. I would appreciate any suggestions you guys have, Thanks.

It has taken the better part of two years to get Benji to be a friendly Lovebird. He wanted nothing to do with anybody here. Other "look at me" that is. He will now step up for us and doesn't panic when we come around. It took a lot of patience.
