HELP explain behavior

My room mate went to a pet store and a lady walked in all mad. She was complaing that the bird was not nice using the Bi... word. She said they didnt handle it s kind of tramatized it like banging on the cage and screaming. She looked at my room mate asked her if she wanted a bird, handed it off and walked away.

We call the bird nibbles. She still kinda does the same thing as far as bitting but we still try anyway. Getting her out of the cage is a painful experience. We have resorted to using a batters glove as to not get the brunt of her beak. Once out she will run around to hide and tolerate you if you have long hair to hide in. She is partical to one person but he still cant get her out with out bitting. She is very vocal you can tell shes cussing you out. She will sit on her perch and do this dance bouncing up and down on her perch while chirping away...not sure if shes being nice or cussing at you.

Shes a green-rumped

Can some one explain her behavior and help

From my limited experience it takes a lot of patience plus I went to a very reputable person that has and handles birds all day. She told me to get som Bitter Apple and spray on my hands and the biting would stop. It works believe me. my Winston p'let is now a happy lil guy and loves getting out from time to time and get skritshes on his neck and head. I know have a new pair of p'lets that are not tame so we are going thru the process once again. The male who I have been working with tho I left them alone except to feed for 4 days is now coming around just a bit. I haven't messed with the female at all yet but they are sitting right by my computer so I talk to them all the time.

Since this bird has never been handled with patience and gentleness, it's not surprising that she bites. It will take time to gain her trust, and it's best done by taking your time, bribing the bird with little pieces of spray millet, and not grabbing the bird at all even if that means she stays in the cage. You can try to get her to trust hands by offering the millet, and gradually work towards a step up. Whenever the bird shows signs of fear or defensiveness, you need to back up a bit. That's a sign you're rushing it.
