Help with Port Lincoln Parkeet

Hi,
I have a 3 month old port lincoln parkeet, he is kept on his own in a large cage in my house.

I'm new to this type of bird and would like types of how to tame him, he is rather terrified of me (he has been here for 3 weeks) and he is a biter, as i suppose would to be expected.

I do not think he has been hand reared due to his nature.

I have heard through the grapevine and various sources that port lincolns can never be tamed and are more of an avairy bird, also parent reared birds can never be tamed?

I really don't want to part with my pet, but I want the best life for him, and if he is suited to an aviary, then I will do this.

Can anyone give advice on the matter,

or does anyone know anyone who is experienced in keeping port lincoln parakeets? Or any qualified bird experts who could advise me?

Thanks

I think most birds can be tamed. Also 3 weeks is deffinetly not enough time for him to get adjusted. With birds it take a lot of time, and patience.
I feel like a broken record but....
Sit by his cage, talk to him, sing to him. Put your hand in there and sit really still (this way he will learn your hand won't hurt him), put a treat in youopen palm (try millet). Just takes time. By talking (soft tones) and singing and just hanging out by his cage will end up with GREAT results and progress.

You can also start stick training him.
