Sick Bird
We have a princess parrot called spike, we have hand reared him and he is about 10 weeks maybe a bit older. We have not been successful to get him to eat seed so decided to cut some feeds back, this morning we noticed he is quite lathargic and very sleepy. We have put him in a box now to keep him warm and also fed him the starter food, which he did eat. His droppings are black. Please advise.

its always good to abundance wean. you might want to start the feeding again, get a scale and contact your vet.

It's never a good idea to force-wean a bird, especially if they do not have another parrot to see how to eat and what to eat. Perhaps your princess was not weaning because he/she is sick. Seed does not make up a healthy diet, either, however it can be part of a healthy diet.
Regardless, you need to get this chick to an avian vet ASAP! http://www.birdboard.com/forum/get-h...-vet-here.html
