Parrotlet question

Hi I am new to this forum and I was hoping that someone might be able to help me with some questions I have regarding Parrotlets. I found a Parrotlet "breeder" on craigslist that was willing to let her baby parrotlets go to their new homes and be hand fed with the new owner. I know that this a recipe for disaster in most cases, however I have handfed baby conures and I am an experienced veterinary nurse so I figured that I would be qualified to take on hand feeding a baby parrotlet. I contacted the breeder and set up a meeting with her to discuss the details and get a feel for her set up. When I got there I discovered that she was a new breeder and had recently gotten her pair and this was there second clutch following the previous one by only several weeks apparently. The breeder has thus far lost two babies and an egg in the nest box and is now waiting on the last egg to see if it will hatch. I was wondering if someone knew what could have possibly gone wrong with the other babies? Also I don't really feel comfortable getting the last baby, if it lives, from her and was wondering if anyone knows of a good breeder in the Oregon area?
