I don't know your age, however if you do not understand parrot genetics and hybrids, then you should not be breeding birds... especially if you cannot handfeed should the need arise... and that's feeding up to every hour around the clock until chicks are old enough to go for longer periods of time without food... or the issues with handfeeding such as burned crop, sour crop, slow crop, extended crop, asphyxia, fungal & bacterial infections, etc. Even if you don't plan on handfeeding the chicks, what would you do if the parents neglected, plucked, mutilated, or overfed the chicks?

I don't know what age has to do with anything...it's all about research. I have a family member who has been raising lovebirds since she was 11. The fact is that if you think that birds "bread" instead of breed, then you're going to have problems. When I first read the topic, I thought we were going to have to convince someone to not eat their bird!

Age may not have a role in breeding your pets, but what you may suggest to someone who is in their 40's or older is probably not the same thing you'd be telling a young teen or pre-teen. A younger person may not take constructive critiscim as well as an older person. Likewise, an older person *might* be able to understand you better than someone who is younger (but of course I know that's not necessarily true).

It's certainly possible for a parrotlet and a budgie to copulate, but highly unlikely that they could produce fertile eggs. But the sex might stimulate the parrotlet to lay infertile eggs, which is an unnecessary strain on her health so it's best to avoid it.
