Jealous Parrotlet????

okay, so a few minutes ago, i went into my sister room where My conure Cookie and sisters parrotlet Toc are housed in cages side my side. it was Tocs turn out of his cage, but he was sleeping on top of his happy hut, and Cookie was awake, so i shut Tocs door while i got Cookie out ( so they couldnt get to each other- they're in the middle of being separated) i decided to keep his door shut for the moment since he was just sleeping anyways. I was about to leave the room with Cookie on my shoulder when Toc, who must not have actually been alseep, dumped down to the bottom of the cage, puffed all his feathers out and started chirping/screaming at us as loud as he could. (i have to say, aside from the 'relly loud' part, it was pretty cute )He paced around the bottom of his cage like that until My sister came to take him out to play, but he wouldnt let her near him, he jumped all over the cage, doging her hand. He finally calmed down and let her bring him out to hang out in the living room, but he did this yesterday, too. At first i was thinking he was just jealous that cookie was getting time with us and he wasnt, but he'd never done anything like this when he and cookie had been sharing a cage. And they've only been in separate cages for maybe 2 weeks. Does anyone have any ideas as to whats going on?

It is probably just a transitional time for them both, I wouldn't worry about it to much provided they both get the same amount of attention. What a cute, love the puffing out his feathers and screaming part, just to sweet. Maybe in future have both you and your sister take them both out at the same time.

He is a cutie, and they usually do get the same ammount of attention. I am usually woth Cookie, and My sister usually with Toc, but i like to pay attention to the both of them, and we'll work on getting them out at the same time ! . :)

Okay, so i'm not sure if he's jealous of not getting attention anymore. eariler, i was putting cookie inside her cage so i could let Toc out, and he started up as soon as Cookie stepped up onto my finger. I'm not sure, and since he's not aloud to spend time out with her, its almost like hes trying to say "If i can't spend time with her, than neither can anyone else." . because when i asked him to step up from the bottom of the cage thinking he wanted out with me, he latched onto my finger, HARD.

i have good luck with having a GGC that's never actually bitten me, but bad luck with a parrolet who seems so think that my finger is his own personal chew toy that needs to be demolished.

Jealous is a middle name for parrotlets. They can be very loud when they are jealous. They have one rule. What's yours is mine.

That describes Toc perfectly. I just managed to sneak Cookie away for some scratches while he was alseep. Lucky timing. :P . now i'll just have to deal with him when he wakes up and discovers Cookies missing, That should be fun. :P
