I am assuming you are in Australia? Some of our Aussie members can help you with the whole permit thing and weather or not you can take him to the vet or if he has to go to a wildlife facility. The laws there require him to be turned over to a wildlife facility I think.

What state are you in? The wildlife laws are different for every state.

Short term give him small parrot seed just to get him eating. The seed is familiar. You can start mucking around with adjustments later if you decide to keep him.

It does depend on which state you're in as to what you're able to do. I would advise a visit to the vet though. If you apply to keep him under a rescue permit then a vet visit will help your case. It will also give you an idea of whether there are any other issues going on.

Have you kept parrots before? It is a question that will get asked in regards to a rescue permit and you need to know what you're talking about.

My ringtail possum is on a rescue permit. That's just for her. If I had anyone else who is on licence come in that was a rescue situation I would need to apply for an individual licence per critter.

Now if you're not wanting to keep him then get in touch with your local fauna rescue. They should be able to help with homing him and maybe even being able to release him once he's better.
