Sun Conure help!

I was looking into getting a Sun Conure but my parents are asking me a billion questions. Are these good birds to get? How loud do they get?? Thank you.

If you (or your parents) are concerned with noise, a sun conure is not the bird for you. Make sure you do LOTS of research...to start you can play videos of screaming sun conures on youtube, but make sure your speakers are at top volume control. Or visit a pair of breeding adults to see how loud they are. Whatever you do, don't believe that a baby will stay quiet, they are soft spoken little birds until they develop their adult screams.

This is the truth!! LOL! I listened to videos on youtube, and listened to Rico in person before I made any decision to seriously consider a Sun. My GCC is even louder since I have gotten the other birds... my house is LOUD certain times of the day. They aren't birds that could live in most apartments because of the noise, and even all my neighbors know what a screaming Sun sounds like! It sounds like a Sun would be something you should do a LOT of research on, as they require not only the ability to be loud, but also a LOT of attention, time, toys, etc. It's like having a toddler that never ever grows up. If you still like them after you do all the research, then keep that in mind, and when you're grown and have your own place look into getting one. Sounds like your parents are concerned about noise...so I'd nix the Sun idea for now.

I was going to say, maybe the mods can move this to the Conure section; not sure if you're going to get the responses you want in the Parrotlet section. But you already have a thread started there asking this same question and you're getting lots of answers in it. Good luck with your research.
