Parrotlet vs. Cockatiel

Hello,
I only have one bird as of right now, and it is a Cockatiel and his name is Elvis. He is really cute and I love him.. we go on walks around the neighborhood and I think that he is just so cute but he is more of the kind of bird that I hold and pet. Otherwise he isnt very active, he sometimes plays in his cage. Anyway Im looking for another bird that is a little more playful and parrot-like. I also dont want one that tends to have nipping problems [haha, I know im crazy]. So is a parrotlet what im looking for? Can you describe some common parotlett activites or maybe any cute videos you can show me.
Anything would help. Thanks alot
-Josh

I've heard that parrotlets have mega-big personalities. Sorry I can't offer more advice! Good luck!

My Parrotlet, Chipper is a little girl. She is SO active and fun to watch! VERY QUIET too!!!!

I love to buy toys and she has a very large and wide cage. If you get a Parrotlet, you need one. They need room for toys and great perches of all kinds. Big and small toys and swings, orbits etc. I put toys all the way down her cage. She uses every single one.

They love playgyms and toys. Chipper swings all the time on her big swing.

P'lets can nip, but they are so sweet also. We love Chipper so much!

You can read alot about them on the Parrotlet forum. Alot of stories and criteria to see if one will fit in your home. But I believe your tiel will "suffer" for it because they are gentle and Parrotlets are demanding. And liking other birds is sort of rare. It's hard to say what will happen.

If they get sleep and what they need, they are fine. WOW, they are cute and fun.

I only have one Parrotlet (Tommaso). He is such a playful active bird. I also have a cat. Sometimes Tommaso likes to pick on my cat, but my cat can care less, so then it's not so much fun for Tommaso, so now he just ignores my cat. I'm sorry I can't be of more help about you getting another bird with your tiel. All I can say is that Parrotlets are great birds. Tommaso is a big part of our family, but they can be nippy and you mentioned you didn't want a nippy bird. You might want to do what Cindy215 suggested and read more about them on the Parrotlet forum. Good luck on whatever you decide on your next bird.

The parrotlet intelligence is amazing. Smarther, than cockitails, lovebirds etc......

I think they have the intelligence of a 4 year old child.

I think my parrotlet is smarter than me since she always outsmarts me.

Your description of Elvis is perfect................that is what cockatiels do!!

If you are looking for a playful, parrot-like bird..........then a parrotlet is perfect. They are parrots, just in a tiny package!!
