Overgrown Beak

Our friend has bought a Spectacled Parrotlet with a beak that grows too long. She has taken Squeak to have the beak trimmed once and knows that it will continue to grow out. Does anybody know of alternatives or home remedie? Perhaps you trim at home?

I take my 2 greys every 6 to 8 weeks (depending on how fast their nails are growing) to have wing, nails and beaks done. Our groomer uses a drimal to do the beak and nails. I am not willing to take the chance of hurting my babies. But if she has a good vet then they would be able to show her the proper way to do the beak. Also how about the rough perches and good chew toys help.

If a beak is overgrown, it is a sign of possible liver or kidney damage, and needs to be address by an avian vet to see what can be done for the health of the bird, a proper diet, etc.
