How do YOU say 'parrotlet'?

Just wondering how y'all personally pronounce this and if anyone knows the 'technically correct' answer.

I always thought it was simply like it is spelled (parrot-let). Today at a bird fair, I heard a bunch of people saying (pair-o-LET). I'm a stickler for details, so tell me how to say it, please. I've always said plain ole parrot-let, but I do think the second way sounds pretty.

I've heard both ways, but "parrot-let" is the correct pronunciation. :)

You just say Parrot and add Let to it. Means a small parrot. Just like other words with let on the ending.

Hi. Haven't been here in months but had to post on this one. Now I always thought that was just a lazy Maryland accent, like the way they say Bawlamer, when people say parro-let. (Makes me crazy!!!! But, I'm a picky Virgo)

So, it's all over the place that people say it wrong? Interesting.

One woman from here that mispronounces it also calls Gouldians "Goulians". It takes all my strength to not correct her.

As I posted above. You just say Parrot and then add "let." You pronounce the "t" in Parrot. Small Parrot.

It is like the word Coverlet. Meaning small cover.

wow

thats so funny i always thought it was parro-let. Thats what every one in florida says....maybe because its easier to say? IDK I think it sounds cooler saying parro-let rather than parrot-let....I guess its two each his own...no one ever knows how to say my parrots breed...its caique pronounced ki-eek and some people say kike...i dont know but caique sure doesnt look like it was sound out kike so i dont know where people get that from??!!!!

Parrot - let. Or you could just say "Forpus". Lol, and I used to think Caique was like khaki pants. Another that I HAVE to correct ppl on (just because it confuses them) Is our turkey vulture. everybody wants to call them Buzards. We dont have buzzards in the US. we have Black Vultures and Turkey Vultures.
