Help: Bad Birdy Habits

Jadie is in the habit of wondering around on the carpet. It started when food would fall from her dryer-rack/playstand. And though i've tried a few different things, I haven't found a method to train her not to wonder down to the carpet. I would hate for her to get hurt!

Any suggestions?

Here is a pic of her playstand so you have an idea of what I am dealing with

i dont know how you could help that.. Toc does the same thing, if theres something he wants he'll climb down onto the floor to get it... maybe you could try putting it on top of something that she can't climb down?

bad birdie habits

thanks for the pic of the clothes wrack you use..it never occured to me to use this and i don't get on here often enough to learn i guess..ha...and i bet it is easy to move around too isn't it..they need to make them for macaws too..ha..i have hand raised all my birds from 6 weeks or less..this has been the same problem with from the parrotlets to my macaw!!! the thing i found out is they learn real quick you will come after them..which is fun to play chase somethimes..but i only play chase on the floor in a totally dif room than where their cages and play stands are so they will not get confused..i know i am going to get jumped for saying this but when they started coming off their play stands to the floor..the first time i put them back it is the cage not the stand..it takes awhile but they learn to stay there or go back into their cages..i do not believe this is making them dislike their cages or see it as a bad place to be..they all like being in or out of their cages..my grey and macaw go in and out as they want all the time when i am home and it is their out time..what ever you do..do not try to brive them into staying by giving them a treat when they get off to get them to stay..then it would be fun for them to climb off..

You might try finding a tray or something to that effect (the first thing that comes to mind is a cafeteria-like tray) to set across the bottom of your laundry rack. Not only might it prevent her from getting all the way down, but it might save all of her "leftovers" from getting on your carpet :)

What an awesome idea! Love the dryer rack/playstand! I have the same problem with my parrotlet as well as my green cheek conure... i also have a boston terrier who is a sweetheart, but cannot be trusted with small animals(gotta be a little weary with terriers lol)..

Annoying Habits

My Boo has some habits that I will have to learn to live with for the rest of our lives...He is OBSESSED with paper towels...I mean he has to have a paper towel wherever he goes...I spent tons of money on interactive, expensive toys...Who knew all I ever needed was a piece of paper...lol...From the moment He's uncovered in the morning, he has to have his balled up paper towel to shred and chase all over the floor...We call it his "blankie" lol
