Odd behavior

I am new to having a parrotlet so bear with me. Is it normal for them to hang onto the perch and flap their wings really fast? If so why do they do it? Also, can someone recommend a good parrotlet book? Thanks!

Chipper has done that. They are exercising. Chipper flies a lot, so she rarely does it. Does your bird fly around?

Jake does that too. It means he wants out of his cage!! He starts by chewing on the bars, usually while we're eating dinner as his cage is in the dining room. If I don't let him out, he'll start flapping his wings wildly. It's his way of saying "let me out!! let me out!!!"

I have the Parrotlet Handbook. They have released a new version this year, my older copy has a lot of good info in it.

They can flap their wings so amazingly fast! My Cello used to do that more in his cage, when he first came, not so much anymore. He is flighted and out part of every day.

For P'let information and questions, you can try Talk Parrotlets forum too.
