Odd behavior
I am new to having a parrotlet so bear with me. Is it normal for them to hang onto the perch and flap their wings really fast? If so why do they do it? Also, can someone recommend a good parrotlet book? Thanks!

Jake does that too. It means he wants out of his cage!! He starts by chewing on the bars, usually while we're eating dinner as his cage is in the dining room. If I don't let him out, he'll start flapping his wings wildly. It's his way of saying "let me out!! let me out!!!"
I have the Parrotlet Handbook. They have released a new version this year, my older copy has a lot of good info in it. http://www.amazon.ca/Parrotlet-Handb...2221658&sr=8-2

It exercise and strength building. Babies do it allot more as they are learning to use the wings. Allot of birds do it. My greys Do it the most and lovebirds do it allot!
