Stinky bird?

I have an 8 month old male parrotlet named Cosmo. The past week I have started to notice him smelling really bad. I thought it was just his breath but now I'm thinking it's his whole body. I haven't changed his diet much. He gets a seed and pellets that are mixed and left in his cage all day long and then twice a day he gets beak appetite and recently I've started trying to give him some broccoli and carrots that are frozen and I steam them. I just wanted to know what is causing this and if there is anything I can do to make him smell better. He has a birdie bathtub that he has access to all day and bathes in it at least once a day. I also have some of the bird deodorizer that I used to try and spray him with before he started taking baths on his own but he hates it and flies away anytime I touch the bottle. It also made him pretty mean, but when I stopped using it he was fine. Let me know what you guys think.

I don't know about birds but I know when my kids were young and I gave them brocolli, they'd let out some pretty aweful smells too, lol.

On a serious note, how long after you started giving him brocolli and carrots did he start having the odor? And have you tried going back to what his diet was before you noticed the smell? You might already have your own answer right there.

It was a couple days after I started giving them to him that I really noticed it. I haven't tried going back to his regular diet becuase those are the only fruits and veggies that he will eat so far.

That may be your answer then. Take away the Brocolli for a few days but continue the carrots, so he's at least still getting some veggies, and see if that helps. If not, switch it and take out the carrots and leave the brocolli. If that doesn't help, take them both out and see if there's a difference.

Introducing new foods can be tricky, especially finding ones that they like if they're a picky or finicky bird, it's trial and error sometimes. But hopefully it's the brocolli and you can replace it with peas or something else that he'll like.
