Parrotlet in need of help!

Hello,
I work in a pet store a couple of times a week and I got a call from the a staff member saying that our parrotlet's legs were broken. I rushed in to see what was happening and found that although her legs are not broken, she is not using them. She can move her toes and has feeling in them, but she is sitting on her bum like she was on a chair with her legs sticking forward. She doesn't seem hurt; she is very perky and alert and is eating ok. She tries to get on perches but can't. So our regional bird supervisor comes and says the bird has splay legs, which I know is bulls**t because the bird is over 4 months old and it had no problems before. It looks like it might be a nutritional deficiency or a stroke, but has anyone had these problems with a parrotlet before? She is looking for a home for free now as we obviously can't sell her so if anyone in toronto, ON, Canada wants her, I can arrange that.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

That is quite possibly a neurological condition brought about by metal poisoning. Take a good long look at the enclosure. If there is any rust, or flaking bars - toss the cage. Look at the dishes (if metal) and the metal fasteners used for various perches, as well.

she could have an injury or who knows what else. A good avian vet is necessary to diagnose the problem for the poor bird. It's important to know what is wrong and if any treatment will help. Hope this bird finds a good home!

Tumours can also be a cause of legs not being used.

Any update on what happened with this little bird? I hope he found a wonderful home and that if it was metal poisoning those ppl @ the pet store took care of it.
