parrotlet has a swollen leg joint

hi, my parrotlet had a swollen joint in his leg. the swell was noticed probably 2 months back and it seems that the condition become worst coz he have been limping much more. his leg was once injuried by my other bigger parrot and since his wing was clipped i wouldnt rule out the possibility that he could have injured himself while jumping off from a height. what worries me more was that could this injuries be link to some disease. what could be the possible reason? is it life threatening? Is the vet able to diagnosis out the exact problem?

You need to take your bird to an avian vet! The vet will be able to x-ray to determine if there is a fracture, and can determine the best treatment.

Good luck! I hope you can see the avian vet very soon. I am sure it is painful. Let us know how he is.

hi. thanks for your concern! i brought him to the animal clinic some time back. Dr Hse said the swell shouldnt be a big problem coz it's not due to overnight swelling. it might be due to thickening of the tissue due to injuries from the past. and he said that my parrotlet still able to support himself well without focusing too much of his the other uninjured leg. And also it didnt affect his movements much. he just advise me to apply centallase to reduce the scarring but it might have little effect on it

Didnt you say it was getting worse and now he is limping? If this is the case then he needs to go BACK to be re-evaluated. He may have and infection in the joint which can spread.
