Unhappy emma, my baby!

i`ve recently adapted a new pet which is a parrotlet, i named her emma. It`s my first time to have a pet social bird so i am very new to this but i researched a lot before deciding to buy one. I bought it from a breeder which was hand-fed. I`m very attached to her already, I think it doesn`t seem to be afraid of me cause it would perch on my finger and it is not afraid to take some treats from my hand. but i`m am very worried cause it is not very active and very quite. It doesn`t move very much in the cage, usually it would just stay in one place. Even outside of the cage, where ever i leave it, it would stay in that same position for hours. She would also have these random bursts of energy like running all over the place and chirping then after awhile she would go back to her quite self again but this barely happens. what does this mean and why does it happen? is this a good thing or sign? I`ve heard parrotlets are very playful but mine barely plays or walks around. I also try to train him through clicker training but she doesn`t cooperate. Is there something wrong? or is she not comfortable yet with her new home? its already been a week since i`ve had her. Please help, thanks!

My female parrotlet, Chicklet, is pretty quiet and still, too. She likes only one of her perches, up in the corner, and spends 70% of her time preening or looking in her mirror. She comes down for food.

Sometimes, she gets curious and comes out of her cage on her own, and climbs around, but still generally just sits in the same place outside as well.

Probably, Emma just needs a little time to adjust to her new home. Once she's comfortable with her new environment, her personality will start to come out. :)

I've had Pickie, a boy, for over a year. He's always been happy to sit on his fav. perch ~ doesn't play w/ toys much...singing and eating are his two fav. things. Sometimes if i leave him too long on the sill in the shower he starts pushing things off (toothbrush etc.) into the tub. I think they have diff. personalities like people do...Pickie is just happy on my shoulder and doesn't need a lot of toys...very sweet bird and never bites. When I picked him out the other birds had picked on him...he was the shy one. (no his name is short for Piccolo.)

Your emma sounds like my Oliver! He pretty much likes to stay by himself for the most part - he comes out of his cage more now since I put him in one thats less HUGE (he was in an HQ single flight, wayyyy too big for him). Give her some time to adjust, she'll learn to trust you and find her way around!
