Pickie took a cruise through backyards!

Well, I thought his wings were pretty well clipped so he couldn't get far....but he had me fooled. He took off my shoulder, up to the apple tree and then off into neighbors yards. It was only buy his loud chirps that I found him walking around on my neighbors deck! Thank God I caught him and he's home again singing away. A very nerve racking experience that lasted over an hour. No more cruising on my shoulder outside!

Ohh I'm glad that you found him and he's okay! I can only imagine what could have happened to him, :(

Smart choice not to take him outside anymore!.

I'll let him hang out in his outdoor cage so he can enjoy the summer...but no more traveling on my shoulder to get there....he'll do the transfer in the house!

hah yeah! I take my sisters parrotlet out on my shoulder - but he's the ONLY bird I would ever do that with - its not because i think he's bonded to me, either. its cause his wings are butchered and he can't fly ONE bit, her crashes to the floor. (bad cut from other home and he chews the rest of the feathers) Again, i'm glad Pickies okay. How's he doing after his adventure?

Pickie was soooo tired when he returned to his cage, could barely keep his eyes open.....probably the furthest he's ever flown...then scared too....but today is back to normal (less a few wing feathers, I did another cut just in case.....). I gave him his millet spray treat and he's loving the sunshine making all sorts of happy sounds! So glad he's still w/ me :)

Happy to hear he's fine other than being exhausted from his little adventure!

There are so many awful stories when they go out with no cage. You got REALLY lucky. Glad he will be safe in a cage now.

WARNING!! never take a clipped bird outdoors. if you want to let them enjoy the summer, take them out caged, or better yet, fully flighted with recall. my p'let rules my neighborhood.
