Help with training my 4 month old male parrotlet

I bought him saturday my birthday present to myself. He is 4 months old. I have been holding him everyday. Usually 2 or 3 times a day. He seems happy chirping away in his cage. His biting is getting better. Also he will sit on my finger for about a minute now. Any sugestions I'm new to parrotlets. I have cockateils and parrots. So I'm not new to birds just parrotlets.

Yes, clicker training. to step up, lightly press the side of your finger agaist his tummy til he is off balance, he will step onto your finger to regain his balance. reward him with a treat. he will soon automaticly step to your finger when placed in front of him. introduce the que "step up" to reenforce the finger que..

He is doing much better today. I'm amazed at how quick he is taming down. He sits in the palm of my hand pretty good now and getting over his fear of me quite a bit now. He still bites at me but not nearly as bad. Peppi was a real wild child saturday so we are making good progress so far.

Congratulations to the choice of bird!
You can teach him to spinn or wave. Use something lika a small piece of sunflowerseed(or whatever he likes) as a treat.
I love parrotlets and I have 2 myself. Very fynny birds with a lot of attitude :)

Peppi is 4 months old definately has a attitude. This evening he sat on my belly for quite a while. Then was headed up to my shoulder but turned around. Today when I got him out I had a aviacake and let him eat some on my belly. He was my friend then but got away 2 time. Not bad for him. I read to give him a treat everytime I get him out. So I'm gonna save that for him till I get the millet out of the cage. I read to provide him with it for 2 weeks

Sounds like things are going great. Thats very good progress for only having him such a short time! I have had my parrotlet nearly 4 months and our progress is very slow, he is very weary of hands and people.

Good luck with your new baby...Just let me tell you, be very careful how much attention you give him...Don't make the same mistake alot of us make...Let him learn to play on his own...If you give him lot's of physical handling when he's young, he will always expect it...For a little thing, they can scream really loud for your attention...I love my 3 boyz, but, they are a handful...lol
