I have not read anything that says either sex makes a better pet. I think it totally depends on the bird. They may have different behaviors around mating season, but otherwise I have not seen, read about, or noticed a difference.

With parrotlets, they are both wonderful birds, male or female. I have a male and he is super quiet, only really chirping in the morning or when the sun goes down. He is louder than my painted conure but Im sure neko could be super loud if he wanted to be. I dont think the noise depends on the sex at all, just the individual bird.

I was just wondering I bought a female and it died on the 2nd night. She is going to replace it. I was just wondering what to expect with the new one im getting. I have a male he plays and sings all day long.

Its just the individual bird. Some lovebirds Ive known to be very quiet where as MOST Ive known are very loud. My parrotlet is very quiet but I have a friend who's p'let chirps all day long. I think it has a lot to do with the personality of the bird and the way it was interacted with and if it can be OK by itself in its cage. Oliver (my parrotlet) is very content hanging out by himself and playing alone. I dont know if he isnt loud because he was the only bird for awhile so he didnt have other birds to talk to, but even with Neko here now, he's still quiet.
