New Cage Option

Hey everyone! Well I am ordering the new cage for my soon to arrive Linnie and I was going to upgrade Jadie's cage. Here is what I really want to get but I was wondering what you guys thought especially with the 5/8 in bar spacing...

I really like this cage. Do you know who the manufacturer is? I couldn't find that information.

I would assume the manufacturer is Kings Cages, since the link is on their website. They are one of the big companies in this niche.

it looks good, but i personally don't like it.. I think the bar spacing would be a little too big for linnies and p'lets.. I don't think I'd even do that spacing for my GCC..

I'm not a fan of the open top cages, either.. they seem dangerous to me..I'd personally never get one, unless i planned to never open the top.. Imagine what could happen if it somehow fell shut when your birdies are sitting on top of it.. and even if you do go for the open top, wouldn't it be a hassle to hang different toys and such from the top? The shape seems like it would be kinda awkard to accessorize and make everything fit, too.

Oh how much better it would have been if they had made it 39" wide and 28" high instead. We call these cages phonebooths or helicopter cages over here because that's what they'd be best suited for (no offense)

Worst case scenario is if a bird manages to wrangle its head through the opening, should the latches fail or be "lockpicked" by the bird. There's no way it would be able to get the head back again :(
Kinda hard to explain how i mean, but unlatch but don't open the top and stick your hand out between the "doors" and try to pull it back in again and you'll see.
I have a open top cage for my sennies, but i never open the top, plus the latches take quite a bit of effort for *me* to open.

i wouldnt' open the top - i know it would be too much of a hassle and it's a dumb idea to have an open top in my opinion. But it looks nice and I like how it looks. the others in this set with 1/2 spacing have a solid top and because of this they are more expensive even if smaller. which is dumb. and i've seen them - they have a few round hooks along the top of the cage allowing only minimal toy and swing spots. this was the best of the design. i dont want their heads getting stuck though.

I didn't know you had decided on a linnie! Congratulations! What color? What age? What breeder? What sex? Tell me more, more, more!!!
I would go with a flight cage for the new baby. Doesn't Jadie have one? You can find them cheaper than King's sells them for or Kings has a double flight cage with one cage stacked on top of the other. It's only 229 (including shipping) which isn't bad from the comparisons I've seen. I plan to buy one for a couple of my birds. Plus, it saves on space.

I've decided on a linnie from a breeder that is not far from here. I haven't decided on the sex or color. I'm thinking green or cobalt and a female. But i don't know - I dont even know what she has! With my parrotlet, I chose her for me. Now I am trying to choose something for me and Jadie and it's hard to make a decision!

I'd go with a flight cage but to be honest I am moving back in with my mom and dad and may go to France for a year where I wont be able to bring my fids. When i come back, I'll be able to take them back. but my parents will have them for up to 9 months. my mom is having a hard time with my coming back home after graduating from college - it's her house and i'm bringing a ton of change! So just as much as these cages are for my babies they are also for my mom - a way of making her happy with letting me move into her home with 2 fids and a cat and a way for her not to resent me leaving my 2 fids behind for her to take care of. she loves Jadie but she loves beautiful things more. even the kitty litter boxes are hidden in fancy wood covers. she wont stop talking about these cages and she is the one buying them in all honesty so i need something she is happy with while I am also trying to find something that will work with my Fids needs...

They dont mind interacting with Jadie and the new linnie - they enjoy it actually! my mom loves to go and have her morning coffee with Jade and my dad will join her - Jadie loves their visits. I want to get Jade someone to keep her company because the room is off the main portion of the house and we'll all be out working during the day. So my parents agreed that it would be my birthday present and I am very excited! for me and for Jadie! Even if they dont become friends, they won't be alone.

I know it's none of my business, but why not wait 'til you know for sure about the France thing?
No offense..
