Introducing Parrotlet to new Linnie

I am getting my new linnie soon and was wondering if you had any tips on helping my Parrotlet adjust well with the new comer... I know it's tricky but I want them so badly to become friends.

I haven't picked a sex yet but was wondering if you guys thought a female or a male linnie would be more likely accepted by my female parrotlet. I thought of getting a female but if they are less social and can have a bossy attitude, maybe she would clash with Jade?

What if Jadie could meet some of them and decide for herself if she liked them?

Yay, I am so excited to hear this news. I think you are going to be very pleased with your choice, they are adorable. I would get another female. Thats the advice I was given from my vet when I got my last Macaw in hopes that she would be buds with my other female macaw. As far as them getting along, there are never any guarantees, its quite a hit or miss. You are just basically going to have to take a leap of faith and be ready to help in getting them acquainted properly when the time comes for introductions. Good Luck, I look forward to hearing how things turn out. I am sure it will be fine.

But what about Quarantine? .. If it were me, i'd choose the bird you want (thinking about Jadie, too..) Bring the new birdie home, quarantine, and then take the introductions slow.. let things happen on their terms..

I don't know about Linnies, but with many species, people say that two females are the least likely to get along of the three combinations you can come up with.

That is not what was advised to me by my vet as well as several other very knowledgeable people to include a couple other Mods here. Maybe it just depends on the species.

I've thought about getting a plet in hopes she would get along with my linnie. Poor Peep has no one her own size to play with. I'd also suggest 2 females. I was told if I got another linnnie, or a plet, to go for another female for the best chance of them getting along.

Good luck, I'll be interested to see how yours get along.

I don't have a parrotlet, but I have a linnie...named Lenny! He was handfed, but really doesnt appreciate hands. He will come out to play, and really shows interest in the other birds. Never aggression, alot of cuiosity. The other birds were not used to him, and were scared. But we have a baby budgie, maybe 4 months old, who is crazy, pulls tails of the other birds, always upsidedown...so we wondered if he would befriend lenny? Yup! They are best friends, the odd couple. Even if the budgie gets a tude, and yells at lenny, he just follows his little friend patiently. They hang upsidedown together, and preen, its supercute! So I don't know what the parrotlet will do, but if your lennie is anything like ours, his curiousity may get the better of your parrotlet. Just be watchful, as Lenny is fearless, and will go to any bird hopeful to make a pal.

Lenny sounds really cute. Can you post some pics of the two of them?
