How do I take a good picture of my parrotlet?

I can't seem to take a very good pic of Illianna! First of all, she is still kind of scare of me, and definently scared of the camera! If I leave the light on over the cage, it turns out too bright! If I turn out the light, and use the flash, she just doesn't show up enough!
So I always see such beautiful pictures of your birds on here and I was just wondering, how you all take them?

What kind of camera do you have? The best thing to do is get a GOOD flash. Learning to bounce the flash so that you can find the right balance of light is the best way to get a good indoor shot. In the mean time, try with a lamp...try moving it around and aiming it in different directions until you can get the lighting right. :)

Flash sucks on birds. better to shine a bright light from behind the camera onto the bird and shut OFF the flash all together. Flash will also startle her creating bad pics. Get her used to the light shining on her for many days first then set the camera up and use the zoom so you dont have to get too close and make her nervous. Leave the camera setting there on something as well so she thinks nothing of it and acts natural.

ummm. With a camera? :D

I probably shoot 5 to 10 pictures for every good one I get of Cricket. Sometimes it's really good with the flash.............. Sometimes he looks washed out if I use it.

Now, I have learned to fool the camera too by covering the flash and leave it on. Faster shutter speed with room light works sometimes too.

Actually, if possible, don't use a flash or any fake light! Use all natural! Try to take photos in a naturally lit bright room... perhaps even putting the bird in the sunlight that comes in through a window.
