Question Yellowsided GCC or ?

Hi, I just got my female Eclectus about a week ago and Love her to death. She is a sweetie and we are learning to get adjusted to each other just fine. My question is I would love to have another bird LoL guess it's bird feaver. Like Lays potato chips "You can't have just one" LOL However I'm wanting something not too large, very cuddly, and not very loud as I work from home and need to be on the phone alot and cannot have a bird screaming in the background. I can't do any birds with alot of dust due to allergies so that limits my selection. The bird would not be in a cage except to sleep since me and my husband both work from home and would receive lots of attention like my Little Ekkie Girl does now LOL won't say I spoil her but Ok yeah I spoil her. I was thinking of a yellowsided GCC because of size and personality but if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Someone also had suggested a Jardines Parrot but I don't really know much about them. Again any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Jardines, Meyers, Brown Heads, Pionus, and Princess Parrots all make great additions.

Many people love their GC's however I have also noticed that some have a NASTY streak about them and may try to bully other birds, while on the other hand, some get along with other species just fine.

I am one of those people Monica wrote about. I love my GCCs to death. I have had two GCCs(one died this summer) and a yellowsided. They are a couple and do everything together. They are very friendly and follow me everywhere I go. They even follow me to the bathroom, come right under the door.....
Anyway, the yellowsided is a lot gentler than the GCCs, doesn't bite and just seems friendlier. The other two have the same personalities. They both are nippy and more agressive and very possesive. I don't know if it is just those two or if they are all like that. They are wonderful birds, though

Kiwilito, I'm glad to hear that because the Yellowsided is the one i'm most interested in. I think they are adorable and I love the small size and everything I know about them is that they love to be with you and love to cuddle which I would love.

the ailment you are referring to is MBS, and there's no cure (multiple bird syndrom).

my first suggestion would be a meyers or red belly. i think they are both adorable, and both are personal faves of mine, we breed and raise them both, they are wonderful!! they are exactly what you described that you wanted in a bird. ours are always social butterflies, they go to anyone, even strangers, and they are goofy, playful, cuddly little things. i just scoop mine up in my hands and lay them on my chest for a nice cuddle, they will lay on their backs, they are very affectionate birds. i have 3 month old babies that will try to regurgitate for me. last one we sold was trying to feed his new owner the minute he saw her. ours usually get along very well wtih other birds too, they just wanna be loved!!

I was doing some research on the Red Bellies they do sound like a cool bird. Do they stay very friendly and cuddly even after they mature? Where are you located I'm in Illinois. Thank you for your help and any info. I truly would love a bird that likes attention and hands on I work from home and would never have it in a cage it would be out all day with me. Thanks Again.

yep :) meyers and red bellies will stay very sweet even as they mature :) they are beaky and they love to play with anything and everything, but they dont actually put any pressure on you, they just lick and taste :) when they mature, i really dont see that much, if any, behavioral changes, they stay sweet as can be. they may try to mate with you, and they will prob try to feed you alot more though, so they will display breeding behavior, but its usually not in the form of aggression. but, we find that with these little africans, it ALL depends on how you raise them. we have to give ours extra attention when they are very young, and they always act pretty shy when they are babies, but when we give them all that extra attention, they really grow out of the shyness before they wean, and they become really social with other birds and people. they really do love attention, they will suck up any attention like a little sponge, but they dont actually demand it. they will be perfectly happy to entertain themselves. did i mention that they are quiet?? they dont really make any screeching sounds, they make more of a whistle-chirpy call. we have about 6 pairs plus some singles, all our poicephalus together, and they only really call when we first get home or when they are ready to be fed, if that. babies can make a little more noise though, but its not the typical parrot screeching and screaming. i find their calls melodious and non-irritating. it depends on what you like to hear though. i love the noises that most of our birds make, i HATE cockatoo and amazon screaming, but i dont mind macaw screaming that much. our moustached have a louder call, its very unique, but i realy like their calls, and the plum heads too. i also really dont like the quaker screams, they can be ear-ringing and annoying when they wanna be. but meyers and red bellies arent NEARLY that loud, thankfully :)
